MINNEAPOLIS (WJON News) — A federal grand jury returned an indictment versus a Duluth male for the ownership of a weapon as a felon.
According to court files, on September 11, 2022, 32-year-old Joseph Butler got in a filling station in Duluth and argued with the shop clerk over modification from a deal.
Butler then strolled behind the counter and punched the clerk.
During the scuffle, a Springfield, design XD,.45 quality handgun fell out of Butler’s waistband. Butler got the weapon, pointed it at the victim, and fired numerous times.
The victim was not straight struck by the rounds however suffered powder burns and a graze injury. Butler then left the shop.
Butler was ultimately jailed in Bloomington with the very same weapon.

Because Butler has numerous prior felony convictions in Cook County, Illinois, he is restricted under federal law from having guns or ammo at any time.
