WOOD RIVER– Central Park was the cooking location to be on Saturday as the inaugural Wood River Chili Cook Off provided a delicious time for rivals and visitors.

Amateur and expert chili cooks competed for rewards while viewers tested and voted on their productions, listened to live music, and benefited from household activities.

Wood River citizen Tony Galletta was among the rivals who formulated a Texas- design brisket chili.

” I have all of the various spices that I receive fromTexas I smoke my brisket about 14 hours, do a lot of various spices and tomatoes, and after that it’s all set,” Galletta stated.

” I’m everything about the tastes popping,” he stated. “A great deal of individuals make their chili all hot and whatever. I’m not like that; I like where you can taste the various tastes.”

Chris Flanders was another Wood River rival and might be seen cooking what appeared like meatloaf over his chili pot. But that became part of his cooking trick.

“This is what is called excessive chili, where you prepare the meat over it and let the juices leak in,” Flanders stated. “When it’s done you break it apart and let it prepare some more.”

“With our chili you get a little mouthwatering, sweet and hot all in one bite; it’s respectable,” Flanders stated. “People appear to like the sweet taste and the heat you get with it.”

Spanish three-bean chili was brewing at the Buenos Aires Cafe table whereSt Louis chef Ainara Farina was stirring the pot.

“It has great deals of taste. Some individuals taste the spice, and others taste the sweet taste,” Farina stated. “It keeps you warm and it’s extremely comfortable.”
